Valeriana officinalis

Sitting in the shade in a little corner of  my garden, these Valerian are growing out of the top of the wall above me.  They grow like weeds here.  Folklore has many uses for this plant throughout the ages.  One is:  if a woman wears a sprig of Valerian she will never lack ardent lovers - I had better be very careful!  But may be the spell is broken over a certain age.  In medieval times Valerian was used to treat epilepsy.

This morning there was another zoom party - a little early for me but itwas in Melbourne Australia so the time difference had something to do with it.  It was L's 70th and she was in isolation there with her daughter and her daughter's partner.  They are a little more advanced with the lockdown in that four people from different households can meet up and the hair salons are now open as they are considered key workers in the state of Victoria.  So she had had her hair done and they were having a supper party for six this evening.
