Whispering Quail

The male quail usually sits just above the others as sentry and makes a full throat cry.  This guy was high in the tree and barely whispering his call. The first time he did this, I couldn't figure out what kind of bird it might be, but I found the source and was surprised.

I am grateful for the varied birds, bees and flowers that surround us.
