Map Jigsaw

I have just completed this fascinating jigsaw of a Geological Map of England and Wales which was published in 1820. It was the life work of William Smith, who,as a young lad collected fossils in the Cotswold Hills. He became an engineer and worked on surveying and constructing canals and so mapped the different strata of rocks across England and Wales. This map also highlights the coal deposits, which were obviously important to the development of the industrial development of England and Scotland. It was a fascinating jigsaw to do.
