Lauterbrunnen

Woke up to a beautiful sunny morning, hard to believe that the weather was going to turn wet and stormy in the early afternoon. After a long leisurely breakfast at the tent, watching the kites and possibly a steinadler, we went down to Interlaken to buy some waterproofs! Yes all 4 of us came with out any rain protection.
First stop in Lauterbrunnen was our friends new little gift shop. She's very happy to be open again, and there were a few local tourists around (us for example). Also a few groups of Asians in rental cars, we were quite surprised, but I'm sure they must have been here for the whole lockdown, as Switzerland is still closed for tourism even to Germans and French until mid June.
We walked down the Lauterbrunnen valley, surrounded by the beautiful cliffs and waterfalls. The storm properly arrived about half an hour before the bus stop. Thunder, lightening, wind and heavy rain. We looked absolutely great in our Swiss PVC red ponchos! They did the job and kept the worst off.
The waterfalls filled right up, and became more powerful. After a schümli pflümli ( a coffee with plum schnapps and whipped cream) and a slice of carrot cake, we went for a  long chat with our friend (only 3 customers in the shop at a time).
Back at the campsite, we had ordered a fish and chip takeaway from a local restaurant, it was still raining heavily, which we picked up by car, and ate in the communal room at the campsite. Obviously we're the only ones in communal room as campsite is still closed for non-season place holders. Washed down with a New Zealand Sauvingnon blanc. What a great day. The rain stopped at about 11pm
