The Edge of the Wold

Whitbarrow across the water

The evening was calm after the winds of the last two days. At Sandside, there were just a couple of people enjoying the play of light on the water and the territorial displays of the shelducks.

It was good to get away from the dominance in the news of the cummings and goings of someone in a powerful position of influence.  We shall see what the impact of all that will be this next week.

At a more mundane level, the strong winds stripped the leaves off my newly planted french beans.  On the positive side, the potatoes are making a comeback after the frost damage last week, so perhaps we won't go hungry this summer after all.
