21 for the First Time

Daughter Danielle had a big birthday today and it was a day full of fun and surprises. Early on we launched a hunt for 21 presents each with an ode based clue which continued until late evening with the last present. She then had pancakes for breakfast while facetiming Andy and Jess who were also scoffing pancakes. Boyfriend Kieran then joined us at a suitable distance continuing the present search followed by a picnic at a local park.

Mid afternoon D's godmother and her husband dropped by on their electric bicycles for a good catch up by the garden wall(!) and, as they left, Andy and Jess turned to take up the conversation. Once they got back home we convened a family Zoom meeting whereby Danielle asked us 21 questions about herself to see how well we really know her! It was great fun with a few surprises! Me and Mrs K won the quiz thank goodness :-)

We then cooked dinner of D's choosing, steak pie, mashed potato, carrots and broccoli. What a day and I hadn't even mentioned the cards, flower-arch in the garden, balloons and a 'reasonable' amount of alcohol, Mrs K's giant chocolate-chip cookie, plus the personalised label on the bottle of prosecco in the blip. And I'd compiled a photobook comprising well over 200 photos of her first 21 years, a nice little keepsake.
