On the Hunt

Red-shouldered Hawk at the DogPark. She was definitely 'on the hunt', probably for Southern Toads.  In the *extra...a still tiny and very young Southern Toad. It was most likely one of the thousands of tadpoles just recently swimming in the ponds at the Park. I've read that only about 10% of those multitudes actually survive to adulthood. They are big-time favorites of the Park's predatory class. Birds like this RSH, snakes, fish, and  other larger toads and frogs depend on them for subsistence and to feed their young. 'tis the Circle of Life. :)

Be Well, my Friends.
