Henry VIII and Art Deco

What possible connection is there between Henry VIII and Art Deco?

Well, I have been re-reading Hilary Mantel's wonderful novel "Wolf Hall" over which the character of Henry towers like a golden colossus.

This reminded me of a visit to Eltham Palace, Greenwich, in 2015.

Henry spent much of his boyhood at Eltham. Over subsequent centuries the palace ceased to be a royal residence and fell into disrepair. It was restored in the 1930s by millionaires Virginia and Stephen Courtauld, who refashioned the interior as a magnificent Art Deco residence.

I don't know what Henry would have thought of the Art Deco, but he would surely have liked the gold.
