With freshly emerged Adonis Blues flying around it seemed rude not to photograph one. Such a fantastic electric blue. Petiver originally proposed it be called the Lead Blue. Later names (Clifden Blue, Dartford Blue, Clifton Blue) were adopted from the places it was seen. Adonis Blue was first used in 1860 in Coleman's British Butterflies. The French Le Bel-Argus seems to come directly from the scientific name Polyommatus bellargus
