Door

Today was a course day. It is held in Stockbridge, Edinburgh which is one of the jewels of the city.

Walking down from Princes Street you can't getting a feeling of increased affluence. The shops, for example, become more specialised with no prices on their window displays; there are park spaces to compensate for the lack of garden land; and there are plenty of cobbles - this is a place that has been around for some time and intends to stay, as much as possible, the way it is. And that is a good thing.

One of the joys in walking around is the marvellous things that residents do in bringing greenery. For example, some basement which are distinctly unpromising for and plant life are just glorious with their pots and shrubs and climbers reaching up to light and the street.

This is my favourite Stockbridge door and it wasn't just me who thought that. The planting has winter interest; can't wait to see it as spring comes.
