upper level victoria centre, nottingham

here's where i spent my day today - this is early on before some of the shops were open and certainly before most of the shoppers were out and about...

the victoria centre market has been situated within the victoria shopping centre since it was built in 1972... moving from its location at central market along parliament street. there are still some traders who moved from the central market and have been here since, and some who have the tradition within their family of second and third generation market traders... a very diverse collection of people ... some of whom market trading is in their blood, others who have come into this venue at a later date and different stage in their lives... all got a story to tell...

the market used to be on two levels, however the ground floor area was sold off quite a number of years ago and the space is now occupied by high street names within the centre, the market now being cited on the upper level oppposite the john lewis department store...

incidentally, the victoria shopping centre is built on the site of the old victoria railway station - and the clock tower still stands on milton street entrance to the centre...

worth a mention that on top of the shopping centre are blocks of flats - the uppermost storey's must command a great view over the city
