Duke of Burgundy

One of our rarer butterflies, I was delighted to spot it at Howe Ridding while carrying out my butterfly transects, so it will be recorded on the national database.
You can see that it only has four legs (2 on each side) which means this is a male.
I will hope to see more next year!
