About to turn

Winding down...

...the school year. Our kids have less than two weeks left, but high school seniors are done even sooner - on June 3 here. This house appears to have both a teacher and a graduating senior in the family...yard signs congratulating the graduates have sprung up all over the county.

This morning I planted the next five willows in the hedge in the backyard. It was sunny and hot with a lovely breeze, not as humid as the past couple days. The soil's rocky, and it took some doing to persuade the chunks of quartz that they'd settled in the wrong spot however many centuries ago. So now we have ten willow sticks planted (five with nice baby leaves) and ten to go.

Talked with Laura, cousin Shelley, and William. Watched the SpaceX launch and did some writing...all good. But I also read the news and listened over the radio, and at the end of the day am left feeling deeply saddened, disturbed, and uneasy. And that's saying something, as none of those are new. There's a protest planned in town tomorrow, may join in.
