Stoke’s Ghost Sign

A friend spotted this on a night walk through Glebe, but couldn’t remember the street. An online search revealed the address - and the story of the Stokes family, the unmarried daughter who lived here for decades and the inheritance tangles when the building was sold. I’m glad the new owners kept the sign.

I’d hoped for a passerby - perhaps a street urchin - to add interest but after 20 minutes all that happened was someone drove up and parked right outside.
