Big skies

In an endless sea of shocking news, I’m finding the arrest of the news crew in Minnesota, covering the unrest following George Lloyd’s death at the hands of police, particularly shocking. I can’t understand why police reform and race relations isn’t pretty much the number one priority for progressive politicians in the US, but I don’t recall this issue getting much airtime in the Democrat candidate contest.

In the evening I met up with Ali in the meadows around Trumpington for some distanced eating of snacks, and long overdue chatting from either ends of a very large picnic blanket. We stayed until the cold fenland wind started blowing too much. Strolling back the evening light was perfect over these fields. As it’s so flat, Cambridge doesn’t wow for views and vistas, yet it does have a relatively dry sunny climate and the big open skies are often lovely.
