Reunited with the 1950s airing cupboard

Walked from home to Brixham today. The Battery Museum was open, and we were invited in. It is packed to the rafters with Brixham and Second World War memorabilia. There is a Norton motorbike on loan from the local undertaker, who has another 48 at home. Mrs Mover was amazed to be reacquainted with the insulation which used to be wrapped round their hot water tank in the 1950s and 1960s. This was her father's RAF flying jacket. After the war, a similar one to this, did a further 20 years' brave service in the airing cupboard piloting the immersion heater. What a shame that he no longer has it. He has his log books though and the immersion heater is more efficiently lagged. It is a real credit to the volunteers, and full of interest. See their website Battery Museum
