Aylesbury Lion

This lion has had quite a journey: the grade II listed statue bears the stamp of A. Durenne, Paris, and was more recently hauled 12 miles by steam wagon from Ferdinand Rothschild's Waddesdon Manor in 1887. This one looks quite awake, but his counterpart just the other side of the Charles Compton statue is very much asleep, like most of Aylesbury.
