Well, there has been a  change in the weather , away go the sunhat and shorts and  out come the fleece and scarf. Same old walking boots though , whatever the weather ! The plants in the garden have breathed a sigh of relief and the veggies over on the plot have definitely
perked up . Had a quick peek at the current  bushes and they promise plenty of jars of berry jam .

It was such a treat to see our granddaughter yesterday, she paid attention when we waved at her and made silly noises. We felt really exhausted by the time we got home yet only a few months ago we would do a days work , drive the 2 hrs through heavy traffic with tea ready made for us all , have a few hours hanging out , drive 2 hours back in the dark and then go to work the next day . The only difference now is the lack of work but felt tireder than ever , is this what happens when you retire ?

Today I still felt weary , yoga day 5 was a chore but I did make myself do it . We then had a lovely family get together as a family to celebrate a special birthday , no games or quizzes just chatting happily to each other and catching up . The babies were smiley and interested , all was good . Our youngest son mentioned a film  called 13th that he had watched on Netflix last night  about racism and the 13th amendment . He suggested that we should all watch it and we will . It had made a big impact on him and his partner , they live in central London and teach kids from all ethnicities.

Many in my generation became politicised through the  peace movement maybe this generation will become politically motivated through this time of pandemic because they have greater, quicker access to truth through social media and technology.
Last week it was so upsetting to know that there were certain people for whom the rule of law didn’t apply , who could choose to break lockdown without consequence but the killing of George Lloyd in front of so many witnesses makes last weeks upset seem trivial.
And despite all this, the current bushes continue to bloom and the heady scent of the honeysuckle continues to perfume the evening air .
On a lighter note, we had a socially distanced walk with our oldest friends who we got to know years ago through the peace movement. They are such good hearted, warm caring people that sharing a few hours with them makes a world of difference . Love and laughter , it’s what makes the world go round .
