I told you it was raining.

My album of the day is "Solid Air" by John Martyn. A bold attempt to push the folk envelope and incorporate elements of blues, jazz, and funk, this album was significant. Pioneering use of his acoustic guitar, clever lyrics and haunting melodies. Mood music for me, best listened to late at night with your favourite tipple.

On this day in 1974 I saw Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band with support act Henry Cow.
