A concrete love affair

Lewknor Interchange Underbridge

This lovely reinforced concrete arch bridge was completed in 1972 and carries the M40 over the B4009 in East Oxfordshire. It was built in such a way to minimise visual intrusion as the road soars high above the low land descending from the western tip of the chilterns. Thus much of the structure is carpeted in organic material, subsuming the concrete but not lessing it's appeal to me... Indeed quite the contrary.

Also do have a look at my latest Flickr upload a 25 minute exposure from the other side of the country!!
