The Merrick

Drove down to Galloway today and climbed the Merrick. This is the view back along the ridge called the Neive of the Spit to the outlier, Benyellary. Fantastic names for hills and features down here, almost Burnsian, some of them. Weather closed in at the summit, so the original plan to do the round was abandoned. Which was annoying as there's a few features worth seeing by descending the Merrick to the East - the rock face called the Grey Man, the loch-within-a-loch on an island on Long Enoch, and the Murder Hole, whatever that is.

First ever walking I've done in the Southern Uplands, and it was quite enjoyable.

Tomorrow - the Forth Railway Bridge beckons...
