The Thin Ice

Through the night we have had a slight covering of frost and snow but the skies were clear and it really was quite a good day apart from being bitterly cold. This loch is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as in winter the loch acts as an important roosting site for internationally important numbers of waterfowl. In summer months, visiting ospreys are seen regularly throughout the day while fishing as well as the occasional otter today many parts of it were still covered in ice.
