The long-term weather forecast!

With today being Candlemas and Groundhog day, if there is a sunny day with dark shadows we're in for a long spell of cold weather, so that's the long-term weather forecast just to cheer you all up!

The belief surrounding Candlemas (2 February) is that today predicts the weather for the rest of the winter.
If Candlemas Day be fair and bright
Winter will have another fight.
If Candlemas Day brings cloud and rain,
Winter won't come again.

The belief surrounding Groundhog day (which is influenced by Candlemas Day) is that if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then spring will come early; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for six more weeks!
