Garter Snake

We found this lovely snek on the dirt road while we were walking this morning. I picked it up and moved it off the road - but not before getting a shot of it with The Husband's size 10 1/2 (11?) boot next to it for scale - see extra. A lovely completely harmless creature. It was doing a great imitation of dangerous though when I tried to get a photo of it once it was out of the road. It kept striking at my phone!
