Skyscape - Riverscape

A particularly beautiful sky with a fine balance of blue sky and fluffy clouds. It's reflected in the Ångerman river, on the outskirts of Sollefteå.

Now I'm going to get a bit nerdy about clouds and weather and gliders so if you aren't interested you can stop here and just think; "What a nice picture that is!"
I've always been interested in the sky, clouds and weather. It started when I began regularly heading into the mountains in my youth and grew from there. Later I flew a paraglider and this made me even more interested, especially in cumulus clouds which form as warm air rises from the ground. Gliders use this warm air to carry them upwards so cumulus clouds act as a marker, showing where this rising air is (or was if you arrive too late.)
Today we drove inland to Sollefteå. As we set off the sky was a cloudless blue. On the way up three clouds appeared, one after another. Each was above a hill with a south-east slope the sun was warming.
By 12 o'clock, when I took this picture, warm air was forming in many sun-warmed places at ground level. For example the grassy field that is the campsite with the flagpoles would be warming more than the forest, and definitely more than the river. Eventually that warm bubble will lift off and rise, until it cools enough for some water vapour to condense and become visible as one of those fluffy white clouds.
(Yesterday's blip is here, after going up a day late!)
