Walnut Hunting

Dogs are used for all sorts of things because they have such a wonderful sense of smell- about 40- 100 times greater than ours. They can detect drugs, explosives, cancer, diabetes, TB and there has even been the suggestion that they could be trained to smell COVID-19.

We think Frida would be a great dog to train up, as she seems to have a wonderful sense of smell. The only thing we have used it for is finding walnuts at Wanaka Station Park. As the leaves fall, they cover up the walnuts, but Frida can find them! She loves them- cracks open the shells and eats the inside. Fortunately, she leaves us some!
