Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

Last Morning on the Central Coast

We woke to the beauty of fog floating on Estero Bay and sunlight painting the sky. While some might focus on the telephone/power poles and wires, we see so much more. This is a beautiful section on California's coast and we feel immensely privileged to have spent so much time here at the beginning of this new year.

After 25 days it's time to get back to where life is lived in a routine. These days of January gave us a good taste of retirement life, but we are not yet retired (we do have lots of vacation time -- that comes from years of working), so we packed the car, cleaned the vacation house (our home away from home), loaded the 3 pooches in and we were off. A minimum of 4 hours driving in a southeasterly direction would bring us back to the Inland Empire.

It was a beautiful day for driving, and except for the late afternoon traffic encountered in Los Angeles, we enjoyed much of what we were seeing. Arriving home to find everything in good order was pleasant. We unpacked our suitcases and have laundry to do. It was fun to watch the pups rediscover their areas of this house; they have crates in the downstairs family room and little sleep houses upstairs in our master bedroom. The housekeeper had been here so the house was clean (she is here one morning every other week and is an immense help). It stayed that way about 5 seconds after we arrived. Tomorrow we'll collect all our mail that has been held for us at the Post Office, and I'm sure that will present a chore with junk mail to toss and bills to pay, but we'll get it done.

Good night from the Inland Empire.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun, and Chloe, Mitzi, and Max), aka Carol
