Coming in for a landing - Bosque del Apache

Giant Cranes, migrating north or south, stop over and rest in this idylic, government protected, nature preserve. If you are fortunate enough to get there early (this morning that would have been around 7:00am) you "might" get to see them take flight in incredible numbers. Thousands and thousands of these HUGE birds springing from the water and flying off to some nearby field to eat breakfast.

We missed the mass departure, but were fortunate enough to catch some shots of others returning to the area around the preserve.
