Dragon Stairs

Across from one section of Hoan Kiem Lake in Ha Noi there is a monument erected in memory of the exploits of a national hero Le Loi (later renamed king Le Thai To) - the leader of the resistance against invaders into the country. This resistance lead to the liberation of Viet Nam in the 15th century. The monument was built in 1896 and has been well maintained to today. This is one of the staircases leading up to the small prayer temple behind the monument. The surrounding gardens are also beautifully maintained with some lovely big leafy trees too.

I thought it strange that I've walked and run around Hoan Kiem Lake for 8 months and not reaslised this monument was here until today.
