Grebes

Having enjoyed the delights of Springwatch last night and watched the crested grebes building their nest, we were delighted to watch them in the real world at Sherborne Castle lake . The pair were still building their raft nest but already had a youngster who was also helping . We were also treated to a courtship display . 
There were several other pairs around the edge of the lake .
The ducklings were another delight running over our toes and pecking at our feet . Also spotted a pair of herons flying over the lake. As we were watching, we started chatting to a woman who it turned out was from our village.
