The fluffiest poppy

Mr Pandammonium has wanted to dig a hole in the garden for a while. Today, he got his wish.

I had a go at the variegated bush. Its roots were thick. The garden fork kept hitting stone, so I couldn’t get it underneath, which is when Mr Pandammonium stepped in with the spade. He dug and dug, removed a load of broken-up bricks, and reached a gravelly layer. The roots kept going down.

Not to be defeated, we took turns with the mattock, and successfully took out big chunks of the root.

Later, we went to play frisbee on the grass at the leisure centre via a peek to see what was happening at the train station. Mr Pandammonium couldn’t believe these bonny red flowers we saw on the way were poppies.

‘They’re not like the Poppy Day ones.’
