Pyramidal orchids

A long hot walk over the South Downs with the spaniel this morning. Lots of orchids seen, mostly chalk fragrant and common spotted and a few bee orchids. The pyramidal orchids are just starting to flower. My butterfly species list leapt forward with three new sightings: silver-washed fritillary (I counted 14 of these - quite extraordinary), small skippers and a solitary white admiral.
