Another two monarchs, just before they fluttered off to find a local over-wintering tree.

It’s not obvious in this photo, but the top butterfly is female and the lower one is a male - if you look carefully, the slight smudgy dot on a wing indicates the sex. 



Thank you for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s monarch in mono. I’m pleased to be showing you two in full colour today. Both photos were taken outside, yesterday’s on the swan plant and today on the plumbago shrub.





Covid 19 NZ update
Today the Ministry of Health has confirmed two new cases - related to border entry with both recently arriving from the UK. The two cases are sisters, here to visit a dying parent.

It breaks a 24 day streak without any new cases, and a seven-day streak without any active cases. This brings the total number of confirmed and probable cases in NZ to 1506.
