Memories

P1nkdragen look away now, major embarrassment event upcoming!

We have been going through all the cupboards today in search of some information which Becky needs.  Unfortunately, we didn't find it but we did come across lots of memories tucked away in boxes.  In the very top of the big cupboard which never gets opened, was a plastic bag.  I tipped it out on to the floor to discover it's a Jenny bag from when she was very young.  Well that was it for the next half hour as each item brought back holidays and events and special times.  Unsurprisingly, there were several penguin t-shirts as they were an important part of family life since they 'waddled on the bus' at playgroup.  Then there are Jen's first walking boots (laces still tied I note!!); the t-shirt she decorated when we climbed Ben Nevis; her swimming costume with badges (lots of Saturday mornings for Tony spent watching classes from the spectator seats); tiny teddy made my Granny Elsie which was loved by Becky first and has lost her dress somewhere along the way.  Granny was also the chief creator of Gala costumes so in the bag was Robin Hood, Aladdin and a penguin outfit of course.  Badger Badger Badger was the favourite hand puppet; the pretty dress was worn at Uncle Roger and Auntie Anne's wedding and I knit the 'three little pigs' jumper which still has unidentifiable food stains on the front!

Last but not least, the beloved slippers are called Pickled and Onions.

That was the afternoon gone but very pleasantly.  I began the day with some bits of, what I hoped would be, final painting, but that wine stain is not going easily and neither is the bathroom leak stain on the study ceiling!  I also painted the wall at the foot of the stairs in readiness for the wonderful plaque which mini neighbours E and W have made out of painted pebbles.  That will be blipped when it is in place.

Having had no real exercise other than going up and down the stepladder for several days running, I then went out for a 5k and a bit run in a very muggy atmosphere.
