Sgwarnog: In the Field

Sweeper

I've been seeing these Chimney Sweeper moths every day for the past five or six weeks, but they're one of the most challenging of day flying moths to photograph - very flighty and often balanced upside down on a very thin grass stalk close to ground level. Typically, I'll think one is about settled, gently lower myself to the ground, get my camera nicely balanced with my elbows, and then it'll be off again before I can take a picture. To find one calm and nicely presented at waist height was too good an opportunity to miss.

It ended up being another nice day, defying the forecast.

And my Dad would have been 90 today.
