After the storms........

Last night's deluges rolled through intermittently from about teatime, then frequently from 8.00 pm onwards. I watched one lightening flash streak across the sky and earth itself on the distant Sutton Coldfield TV mast a little way to the distance towards the north. It is a well-known landmark around here.  I was closing the loft bedroom windows, and had a grandstand view of the pyrotechnics.
It was very what we would call muggy weather.
This morning at breakfast I've been watching the female blackbird finding worms, and just a few minutes ago shelling a snail.
There is a mistiness pervading the air.
All the seed packets I've sown are sprouting up apace!
I checked the roses and they survived albeit several blooms are looking rather soggy.
   Everything has had a wash!
We are forecast more of the same today.
Pleased that we made the most of yesterday's  morning. It looks less likely that the sun will dispel the low cloud here just now.
Photo of the blackbird with one of her spoils. She's feeding young ones in a nest somewhere in one of the nearby gardens. She always fills her beak with "goodies" and then flies off over our adjoining hedge.

Somehow all this reminded me of the really daft song from 1965,
Down Came the Rain.
