Mother of God chapel

In the middle of the meadow, on the outskirts of the church village of Eys, without any roads or paths, is a curious chapel. The chapel has an inscription, 1696, which indicates the original year of construction.

The chapel was demolished in 1905 because it was about to collapse. The statue of Mary traditionally belonging to the chapel has since disappeared.

The new chapel was built opposite the site of the original chapel, in a meadow. This chapel is dedicated to the Sacred Heart, but it is still popularly called the "Mother of God" chapel. It is an open field chapel, made of artisan stone, covered by red tiles and restored in 1980.
