Flying High

A need for a change of scenery took us towards Castle Howard. We parked at the village hall paying the very reasonable parking fee of £1. Because there is so much contactless payment we had to hunt around for some change.

The route took in part of the Centenary Way past Bog Hall before branching off towards and between the Mausoleum and the temple of the Four Winds. Jet thoroughly enjoyed his dip at the bridge east of South Lake before returning back through Ray Wood.

Fabulous afternoon and we enjoyed seeing what I think is a Red Kite circling above. Lots of butterflies in the meadows (see extra). Meadow Browns, Tortoiseshells and Woodland Browns in the Wood plus Blue Damselflies. Plus fields edged with Poppies. A delightful 5 mile walk.
