Classic View from Chrome Hill

This wasn't where we had planned to be. We'd had a walk along Wyedale planned, just on the outskirts of Buxton. But the main route out of Buxton, the A6, was closed for roadworks.

So a quick check of the map led us to the village of Earl Sterndale, where we started a completely different option. It turned out to be perfect.

Again not much in the way of human traffic, great views and good weather. Just a little bit of a steep up to reach the top of Chrome Hill for this classic view. This view won a National Parks competition for photographer Kieran Metcalfe in 2018.

Usually we'd have a drink in The Quiet Woman in Earl Sterndale, at the end of the walk. Sadly this isn't possible at the moment. Let's hope it's still there when we can.

It's also around here that you can witness a double sunset!
