A new book about the history of making little versions of other things, by the guy who wrote 'Just My Type,' a very enjoyable book about fonts. The first chapter is about how the construction of the Eiffel Tower made a lot of people think about things in terms of scale for the first time and made the ubiquitous little souvenir models of it one of the first successful examples of mass tourism marketing. The second, about model villages, makes the price of entry (or trip to the Library) worthwhile in itself...
