Mother Nature At Work

I have previously written about local Perch Ponds. (I see the link to the "Bedsted Men" has broken - try this one).

This looks for all the world like one but isn't. Rather, its an old clay pit which has flooded and at the height of a long hot summer might just about dry out. Most of the time it sits adjacent to the Worth Way providing a wildlife haven.

Because it is man made as opposed to natural, the boundary has been maintained such as to avoid the risk of animals (and occasionally people) from getting into difficulties.

What caught my eye were the 1930s style concrete Southern Railway fence posts still standing sentry after 90 odd years of service.
