Memories Part Deux

We cleared the top shelf of the Big Cupboard today, and found Becky's childhood box with more treasures to enjoy.  I also found the information we were seeking earlier in the week.  So Becky's treasures.  At the top is the fairisle dressing gown I made for her which took me forever.  I have a great photo of her running around Langdale Campsite chasing bubbles, wearing her dressing gown and wellies.  Then there are postcards from Lakeland Bears which Becky collected.  Both she and Jenny had very special teddy bears (Honey and Growler) from the shop in Bowness.  There was lots of artwork in the box so the Tutankhamun head from a school project is there to represent it, as is the piece of early embroidery.  Becky's first pair of shoes, suitably scuffed, her gymnastics club leotard, a school t-shirt (remember having to sew in all those name tapes?!) and, just like Jenny, her t-shirt created after we climbed Ben Nevis.

So everything is out of the cupboard and we have removed the bowed shelves and I've stripped off the very ancient wallpaper on the inside.  We have never done anything with this cupboard except put things in it, so I'm looking forward to when it will be boarded out, painted and have some very strong shelves and new doors.  Several items have been recycled to neighbours and others will go to the charity shop or be recycled at the tip, so hopefully when the time arrives to put things back, there will be some space.  We are not really in to buying stuff these days so I don't intend filling up the cupboard again.  You are witnesses to that!!

Have you been watching Brian Cox's series 'The Planets' on BBC2 at 7 o'clock each night this week?  Wonderful!
