Sgwarnog: In the Field

River

I walked down to Denso-Marston nature reserve, where this veiled view of the river caught my eye. I had a good chat with the warden, who is a dragonfly enthusiast - it seems the damselflies are not having a great year and none of the big guys have shown themselves yet.

In the meadow next to the reserve there was a good crop of Peacock caterpillars and several freshly emerged adult Small Tortoiseshell. On the river I had a fleeting glimpse of a Kingfisher. In the river was an impressive shoal of fry (extra) - I wonder what they will group to be?

And best of all, the kids are staying over for the first time since March.
