Winter...

......................Solstice

Today, for us living ‘down under’ we celebrated the shortest day of the year.

We were traveling South towards the West Coast of the South Island, NZ.

Fog was a magical addition to our travels this morning. The featured photo was taken from a hill road near Tapawera looking across the valley towards the Western Ranges.

Sunshine and cool temperatures greeted us in Refton and along the Grey River, then at Hokitika we turned inland to see the spectacular blue water at the popular Hokitika Gorge.

Then a quick dash to Ross Beach just in time to see the sun disappearing in a glow of gold below the horizon.

Now we are listening to the waves crashing against the sandy shore.

Thank you so much for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s Monarch glowing in the afternoon sunlight.
