A Very Sad Day for our Town

Last night M and I were witness to Budgen's (Holt's only supermarket and Post Office) go up in flames. It was a very distressing sight indeed.

It was a fierce fire and this morning little remains. Thankfully there were no injuries.  My heart goes out to the Baker family who own it and to all their staff.
We are only a small town so this loss will be keenly felt, especially as there are so many elderly people living here.  Many of those don't drive and aren't on the internet so the phone order/delivery service that Budgen's offered was a lifeline.  Also, the shortage of banks in the town means that many rely on the Post Office for their financial needs.
The community is strong here, so I'm confident that a temporary measure will be put in place and that the Baker's will rebuild but it's a very sad event to have happened and people here are in shock.  Events like this make one realise just how important our town and community is to us.
