Fun, family and fathers

We were way too late trying to source National Trust tickets for today so the plan was to pitch up at a park in Warwick to surprise dad for Father’s Day. He thought we were just planning to go for a paddle and a picnic somewhere and I thought as soon as we hit the M54, he’d suspect something. Warwick is, after all, a long way to go for a quick paddle. The drive down took us closer and closer to Oxford. Surely he knew by now? Pull up beside Andrew and Ruth’s car...still nothing. It was literally only as Andrew dived out from behind the car that dad had any idea what was going on. Pretty hilarious. My dad is great, but also entirely gullible.

What we hadn’t realised was that a) we could paddle right to Warwick Castle b) both boys would be totally gung ho about kayaking. What an absolutely wonderful day. So so good to hang out with family after a very long time.
