Today, on a crisp winter's day......

.....in 1957, my dear mum and dad were married.

Mum was escorted by her father when she entered the church, which was decorated with Japanese camellias and the delicate fragrance of luculia. Her gown was of French lace and nylon tulle over ice-blue satin. The lace skirt was caught up and held in scallops by tiny white satin bows embroidered with pearls. The bodice was studded with pearls at the neckline. A trellised coronet, decorated with leaves and pearl-centred flowers, held the embroidered tulle veil in place. Mum's bouquet was of white orchids and pale blue hyacinths.

The bridesmaids wore sleeveless gowns of fiesta pink taffeta with an overdress of matching nylon tulle. The bodices, pointed back and front, featured V-shaped necklines of pleated nylon net and Medici collars. They carried bouquets of cyclamen orchids, with smaller flowers to tone, and had circlets of daphne in their hair. After the ceremony, they wore white wool stoles embroidered with silver thread.

The bridal party were friends of both mum and dads, with mum's sister (bottom left) as a bridesmaid.

My extra is a lovely full-length image of mum with her parents.

Today the weather sounds similar, sunny, calm with a few clouds drifting by, the air is brisk, a true winter's day.......for a winter wedding :)

Happy Monday everyone :)
