Building blocks

Fred and I zoomed up The Shard today in its first weekend open to the public. The staff were really lovely, with a great sense of humour. They didn't mind at all when, during the obligatory photoshoot, Fred pulled a variety of faces, none of which I'd pay to frame for keeps.

We had fun spotting famous buildings from the 69th and then the 73rd floors. The 73rd floor is open to the skies, with a few more tapering floors rising above. It was perishing up there. Brrrr. I felt the feelings of vertigo a couple of times, but it was perfectly safe and I didn't mind peering down - it's so interesting. This view is looking south-west towards Elephant and Castle and the Strata Tower.

You can see the 360-degree view from The Shard here.
