Pitsligo Castle

The castle grew from the tower house on the right which was built in 1424 to become, by the 17th century, a courtyard palace. The seat of Alexander, Lord Forbes of Pitsligo, it was unroofed by Hanoverian troops following the failed Jacobite Rising of 1745.
