We are waging war with Percy the pigeon who is a most persistent cheeky bird who plays games with us.  He waddles all over the garden leaving his droppings and spends much of his time under the bird feeders picking up the seeds and suet etc that the birds drop.  We were happy to have him as a “hoover bird” but now apart from leaving the mess he has learnt how to actually sit in the bird table feeder that hangs down and of course gobbles the seed stopping the little birds.  Although the feeders are refilled twice a day they could be refilled several times due to Percy’s greedy appetite. Whatever we do to scare him off the feeder leaving it for the small birds, he just sits on a nearby roof or fence then with a cheeky glint in his eye he flies back defiantly a couple of minutes later to tackle the seed feeder then leaves his mess on the lawn.  He used to frequently come with his partner so I hope she is not sitting on a nest and ready to teach their young of the plentiful supply here.  I wish Persistent Percy would join those pigeons foraging in the nearby fields or farmyard but I expect the plentiful supply and variety of seeds are more tempting here.
(As the garden is very windy the plastic lid is to stop the seed from blowing out of the feeder and the saucer collects the seed)
